I'm proud of Bandung because Bandung is a paradise for food enthusiasts on the lookout for new culinary experiences. There are a lot that this Flower City can offer in terms of grub, not only when it comes to local delicacies but also when talking about international fare from around the world.
Better yet, most eateries in Bandung seem to have a knack for inserting their own distinct style and touch into the menu, and are likely to get you coming back for more. So, what are the essential things to try out while in town?

- Siomay Bandung : Siomay Bandung is debatably one of the city's most famous exports, taking the shape steamed meat and flour mix with or without tofu. Siomay is served with peanut paste, sweet soy sauce and topped with fresh lime zest Siomay Pak Lili, located on Jl. Geger Kalong Girang, is one of the legendary dumpling sellers in Bandung and must try for siomay lovers.
- Batagor : This delicious fried meat dumpling is suitable for snacking whenever hunger strikes. Though it is easy to find street vendors selling fried batagor around town, there are popular batagor spots such as Kingsley on Jl. Veteran (a true veteran that has been serving the food for 28 years), Batagor Riri on Jl. Burangrang 41 and Batagor Haji Darto at Pasar Simpang Dago.
- Martabak : Just like siomay, the martabak is yet another common staple food in Bandung. The fried stuffle pancake can be cooked sweet (with chocolate, cheese, banana and more) or savory (with eggs, vegetables, mushroom and chicken or beef). There is also a unique martabak mix filled with sweet corn and cheese-go and give it a try! Some recommended martabak places include Martabak Canada on Jl. Kebon Kawung and Lodaya ans San Francisco on Jl. Lodaya.
- Mie Kocok : Mie Kocok is a noodle soup served with various cow part topped with bean sprouts. If you don't fancy cow offal, simply ask them to omit it and you can still enjoy the noodle's rich broth.
- Serabi Bandung : A type of traditional Indonesia pancake that simply cannot be passed up. There has been much debate about which of the many serabi eateries in Bandung was the pioneer of, well, serabi eateries, but we settled for one halfway down Jl. Setiabudi and- after tasting their serabi- couldn't really complain.
- Dutch Pastry : JL. Braga, the coolonial downtown of the city, has a bakery called Sumber Hidangan that was first opened as Het Snoephuis (Candy House) back in 1929. The bread and cakes here still have Dutch name and can be enjoy amid old-age ambience, which attracts both tourist local patrons.
- Brownies : the quintessential food item to bring home from Bandung. Bandung 's brownies have become very diverse troughtout the years such delicious variants as cheese, cake brownies, steamed brownies and many more, all of which make for fool-proof "souvenirs" for loved ones.
- Yogurt : The yogurt craze that has been sweeping Jakarta as of late can also be experienced in Bandung. Yogurt Cisangkuy on Jl. Cisangkuy has a selection of fresh yogurt flavors served with fresh fruit. The eatery is set under a big old tree and makes for an ideal resting place after walking in the hot weather.
